Psychotherapy that begins in the body

Somatic trauma therapy and body psychotherapy with a medical doctor trained in clinical psychoneuroimmunology. The work runs as a programme rather than as isolated sessions, and it always begins with a consultation to see whether my approach is right for you.

The approach

Regulation before expansion

Most of what we call character is a nervous system that learned to defend itself and never got the message that it can stop. It becomes posture, digestion, sleep, desire, and the way you react when someone comes too close.

So this work does not begin by trying to open anything. It begins by giving the body back its safety. Without that foundation, an intense experience gets mistaken for repair, and the system closes again a few days later, a little more tired than before.

We work directly with the nervous system — polyvagal-informed regulation, somatic trauma release, body psychotherapy — alongside conversation. My background in clinical psychoneuroimmunology means we can also look at what your physiology is doing, and not only at your story.

The foundations

Three levels, one being

The work rests on three levels, and all three point at the same centre: bringing human experience into contact with being. They are not worked through in order — they are held at once.

MindWisdom

A mature mind, in a body whose energy is no longer blocked, becomes wisdom.

  • Practices of meditation, silence and emptiness
  • Clarity and the reordering of consciousness through therapy
  • Somatic work directed at repairing harmful patterns of thought and belief
  • Short, medium and long-term objectives

EmotionCompassion

Emotions, experienced freely in a therapeutic space and in personal practice, awaken compassion and empathy towards ourselves and towards the world.

  • Tantric and Taoist energy practices, safe and supervised, for working with energy at different levels
  • Somatic trauma release practices
  • Polyvagal-informed regulation of the nervous system
  • Therapeutic practices of emotional release
  • Crystals as complementary work (yoni egg and wands)

WillGrace

The will discovers grace on contact with the divine and spiritual love that guides our path towards a greater purpose.

  • Practices of sublimation, for contact with higher dimensions of consciousness
  • Commitment and continuity through the process
  • Devotional practices, for contact with spiritual consciousness
  • A constant, concrete intention to remain in consciousness

What is offered

The sessions

All three run as an accompanied process, with objectives we set together, and all three begin with a free first consultation. They can be taken in person in Playa del Carmen or online from anywhere in the world.

Somatic Trauma Therapy

Somatic and conversational therapy that includes work on the body's tissues and fascia (fully clothed), for people working with trauma (this therapy is not a massage).

Not everyone who writes to me is looking for massage, and massage is not necessarily the best therapy in every case. So somatic therapy is a distinct therapeutic path, done fully clothed, sitting or lying down, in person in Playa del Carmen or online.

The approach is somatic: we work with the nervous system directly — regulation grounded in experience with trauma, and somatic-emotional release — alongside conversation. My background in clinical psychoneuroimmunology means we can also look at what your physiology is doing and, where needed, consider other approaches, not only your story.

Because real change needs continuity, I work in programmes rather than isolated sessions. We begin with a free mini-session so you can feel whether my approach resonates before committing to anything.

  • Free introductory mini-session
  • 75-minute sessions, weekly, fortnightly or monthly
  • Polyvagal-informed nervous-system regulation
  • Somatic trauma release and emotional release practice
  • Available in person or online (Zoom / Google Meet)
  • Programmes of 3, 6 or 9 sessions — ask me for the current rates

Body Psychotherapy

Where the mind's patterns and the tension the body holds are treated as one system, because they are.

Body psychotherapy works on the understanding that thought, emotion and posture are not separate systems. A belief you cannot rationalise your way out of is often held somewhere in the tissue.

Sessions move between conversation, directed somatic work, meditation and practices that reorganise the relationship between mind, emotion and will. The aim is not catharsis without foundation — it is a mature mind in a body whose energy is no longer blocked.

Because this is trauma work, it runs as a programme with objectives we set together for the short, medium and long term.

  • Free introductory mini-session
  • Clarity and reordering of consciousness through therapy
  • Somatic work on harmful thought and belief patterns
  • Meditation, silence and emptiness practice
  • Short, medium and long-term objectives agreed together
  • Available in person or online

Sexuality Coaching

A conversational, educational space to understand and mature your sexuality — grounded in medicine and in the tantric tradition.

Many questions about sexuality never find a place to be asked. They are not always trauma that needs treating: they are questions about desire, pleasure, the body, boundaries or life as a couple, which almost nobody learned to talk about clearly.

Sexuality coaching is that place. It is conversational and educational work: together we look at how you live your sexuality today, what you want to change, and which concrete practices can support you in that change. As a doctor and midwife I bring a real understanding of anatomy, hormones and physiology; as a coach in sexuality and neotantra, the body-awareness and energy practices I work with in everything else.

If something comes up along the way that needs more than a conversation, I will tell you honestly, and we can continue with somatic therapy.

Like the rest of my work, it runs as a programme with objectives we set together, and it begins with a free first consultation.

  • Free first consultation
  • Medically grounded sex education — anatomy, hormones and sexual response
  • Exploring desire, pleasure, boundaries and communication
  • Body-awareness and energy practices to take home
  • Short, medium and long-term objectives agreed together
  • Available in person or online (Zoom / Google Meet)

What we can aim at

Possible therapeutic objectives

Every process is made by hand. This is the range of what can be worked on; which of them are yours is something we decide together in the initial consultation, and revisit as we go.

  • Release repressed emotion in a safe, therapeutic setting
  • Become more sensitive to, and better educated about, the development and maturing of your sexuality — for the stage of life you are in and your own needs
  • Regulate the nervous system through somatic practice, in a professional therapeutic space
  • Explore the emotional relationship with the body, with desire, with sexuality and with the shadow
  • Build a more compassionate relationship with yourself
  • Learn to meet moments of crisis emotionally, and to use them for your own evolution
  • Cultivate empathy and compassion from a more integrated emotional state
  • Take up tools such as crystals, quartz yoni eggs, crystal wands and energy practices, responsibly
  • Recognise and validate every emotion, learning the wisdom held in each one
  • Restructure beliefs that damage your self-image or your day-to-day life
  • Establish a regular practice of introspection and meditation
  • Bring moments of emptiness and presence into daily life, as a resource for mental clarity
  • Develop awareness of your own mental and emotional processes
  • Reconnect with inner will as a force of direction and purpose
  • Experience and deepen devotional practice and sacred ritual
  • Develop a spiritual practice that feeds your sense of purpose
  • Experience states of connection with the transcendent and the divine
  • Sustain continuity and inner discipline beyond the initial impulse

Where we meet

Therapy in Playa del Carmen and online

As I mentioned above, psychotherapy sessions are done in comfortable clothing (sportswear or something loose, so you can move easily), sitting or lying down (and just to be clear: they are not massage), although in person they can include work on the body's tissues to release specific tension (neck, shoulders, head and so on, at a superficial level). You can take them in my consulting room in Playa del Carmen, or online from wherever you are — the body-psychotherapy work we do also works over a video call, because the technique allows it and it does not reduce the effectiveness of the process; in fact, we see extraordinary results in patients who take it by video call.

  • Playa del Carmen My consulting room A private, quiet space. This is where the in-person sessions happen.
  • Online From anywhere in the world By Zoom or Google Meet, in Spanish or English. Most of the longer processes I accompany run this way.

If what you are looking for is bodywork rather than somatic and conversational therapy, the tantric massage page may be the one you want.

Questions

What people usually want to ask

If your question is not here, write to me. No question is too direct — I would much rather you ask.

How does the process start?
With a free first consultation. It is a short conversation where you tell me what brings you, I explain how I work, and we both see whether it makes sense to continue. Nothing is committed to in that first meeting.
Why programmes rather than single sessions?
Because the change you are after does not happen in one session. The nervous system learns by repetition and needs continuity before it trusts that the change is stable. A single session can change your life, but it would be misleading to think one session can fully heal decades of conditioning and traumatic experience. So we agree objectives and a rhythm — weekly, fortnightly or monthly — from the beginning.
Does it work as well online?
The body-psychotherapy work we do also works over a video call, because the technique allows it and it does not reduce the effectiveness of the process; in fact, we see extraordinary results in patients who take it by video call.
Does this replace psychiatric or medical treatment?
No, and I will never ask you to stop one. This work sits alongside your treatment, it does not replace it. That is why the form asks whether you are receiving psychological, psychiatric or medical care: so that we can work with it in mind rather than against it.
What if I cry, shake, or feel something overwhelming?
This is one of the most common things that happens, and it is often the most valuable part of the session. Shaking, tears, heat and strong emotion are the nervous system discharging what it has been holding. I am trained specifically for these moments. We follow your rhythm, we breathe, and we let it move at your pace. We do not close or end the session until you have found grounding and regulation.
I have a history of trauma. Is this safe for me?
It may be exactly the right work, but it may also not be the right moment. That is a real conversation, and we have it in the first consultation, before you commit to anything. My background is in somatic trauma release, and we will find the right pace for you together.
Is it confidential?
Yes. Everything you tell me is confidential, held to the standard of my medical practice.
What languages do you work in?
Spanish and English.
What is your cancellation policy?
Rescheduling or cancelling needs at least 72 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less notice are not refundable, as the time has been reserved for you.
How do I pay?
Programmes are paid in full before they begin, and longer ones can be split into two payments. Full details are on the payment and booking page.
